I am noticing that a lot of our patrons are having difficulty figuring out how to use our self-checkout machines without help from staff, which defeats the purpose of the self-checkout machines. What do you think? As a library customer, would you make time to watch an online one-minute tutorial?

I can tell you that I always use the self-scanner at the Waldo Branch. However, you do have to scan your books just-so in order for it to work. For example, when you slide your book towards the beam, it works best if the book isn't totally pushed against the back as you slide it. I have found that the scanner doesn't work when you do that. Maybe that is why people aren't using it? Just a thought. That said, I'm not a rocket scientist and I figured out how to make it work! :)
Oh, but you were asking a question! YES, I would watch a tutorial if it was short and clearly shows the exact same machines I would be using, naturally.
