Golden Compass needles Oshkosh

At least one school in the Oshkosh, Wisconsin, area has temporarily pulled the novel The Golden Compass from its library shelves over concerns about what critics call its “anti-Christian message.” Mary Miller, media specialist at St. John Neumann Middle School and Lourdes High School, said she has taken the series off the shelf at the shared school library because she wants to have a chance to read them and decide for herself if they are appropriate for students....

At least they didn't burn the books. That's pretty reasonable.

I am just amazed that it has taken so long for people to discover that the author is an athiest and this trilogy is based on that belief. I expect some full out burning pretty soon.

Owen gave me the whole book set for Valentine's day (like two years ago!). I still need to read them, and he says they are great books!

St. Peter's pulled them off the shelves shortly after a new principal started a few months ago.
