The Gravedigger: A Novel by Peter Grandbois
Juan, the gravedigger, is a storyteller who gets his stories from the ghosts of the dead that he buries. While some of the stories he tells leave the family in peace others are not so comforting. Juan also struggles to raise his daughter alone after the death of his beloved wife. Esperanza, although a loving daughter, is also rebellious and tests the limits of her community by falling in love with a gypsy boy. This is an excellent example of magical realism and a novel infused with warmth. A lovely engaging story with humor to spare.

Have you read any L.A. Banks? Specifically the Vampire Huntress series? Just wondering if it was worth checking out?
I had The Minion checked out at one point but never got around to reading it. A couple of people on one of my listserv's liked it very much (the reviewer's weren't as kind). The second in the series seems to get better reviews so the author is improving.
She is getting compared to Anita Blake so she probably wouldn't be for the reader who can't tolerate a fair amount of sex and violence in her vampire novel (but that kinda goes without saying).
I like the Anita Blake series so this might be something to look at. From what I understand there are 25 books in this series so far and I wonder if they "wear thin" after a while. Anyway, thanks for the info.
